The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo is proud to celebrate the election of Dr. Shesha Jayaram as Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE)—a prestigious honour that recognizes engineers who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their fields and to Canadian society.

This recognition is not only a reflection of technical excellence, but also of leadership, dedication, and a deep commitment to advancing engineering education, research, and innovation.

Electrical and computer engineering professor, Shesha Jayaram, received the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Outstanding Achievement Award. This award honors an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the application of electricity to industry in accordance with the scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society. This award was first presented in 1969. She is the first female to win this award in 54 years!

Congratulations are in order for electrical and computer engineering professor, Shesha Jayaram. This year she is the recipient of the 2020 Electrostatic Society of America (ESA) Distinguished Service Award. The Society is honoring Professor Jayaram for her service to the organization and her dedication and leadership, including her formal service as the ESA President and Council Member. The ESA Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service to the ESA over an extended period of time, with a demonstrated long-term commitment to the growth and continued well-being of the Society.
