Information Systems (IS)
Implementation of a new instance of Slate to improve and modernize the undergraduate admissions technology and processes. IS
Implementation of SiteImprove, a digital accessibility tool to help website and content creators with creation of accessible content, and to meet the University’s compliance obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). IS

In partnership with Finance, supporting the implementation and launch of the new eProcurement system Jaggaer.

 Partnering with the Office of Research to examine the opportunity for efficiencies and streamlining in Research Administration information systems at Waterloo. IS
Acquisition and implementation of a new Emergency Notification System (ENS) to ensure the safety of campus through enhanced communication channels. IS
Request for proposal awarded (RFP) to support work to upgrade core, distribution, external, and residence core network infrastructure. Upgrades expected to begin in 2024. Technology Integrated Services (TIS)
Implement mobile service management (currently in pilot phase).  TIS

Upgrade virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment with new hardware.

Continued packaging/deployment/patching of Windows 10/11 software; 1013 application deployments to 6350 clients (ongoing). TIS
Plan deployment of Windows 11/12. TIS
Telephony upgrade to replace Avaya and Skype 4 Business platforms continues. This project will replace the entire environment with a modern unified solution. TIS, Client Services (CS)
Implementation of Atlassian's Statuspage tool, which will replace the legacy service alert tool in Request Tracker (RT).  CS
Inclusive Language Project, including review and improvements to IST resources (knowledge base, service catalogue, service desk templates). CS
Implementation of new EndPoint Management solution continues. CS, TIS
Complete implementation of EndPoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution. CS, TIS, Information Security Services (ISS)
Upgrades to Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) services. ISS
Implement recommendations from the 2023 Cybersecurity Maturity Assessment and Post-incident Review audits. ISS
Implementation of cybersecurity awareness training for University employees. ISS
Planned classroom improvements will include upgrades of many of the classroom podiums to be height-adjustable; roll over and replacement of other components of the AV systems; implementation of a new fob system; planning future actions based on the 2023 classroom survey; Teaching & Learning Spaces Ops and Steering assessment and proposal for future classroom renovations. Instructional Technologies and Media Services (ITMS)
Planned implementation of an EdTech sandbox with the creation of a high-tech classroom environment for experimentation and a process for acquiring software licenses for pilots/experimentation. The EdTech sandbox is a deliverable of the IT Review, the digital learning strategy, and the teaching innovation incubator. ITMS
Further development of the EdTech Hub including publishing EdTech tools and information that are not centrally supported or funded. ITMS
Identify and begin implementation of initial set of improvements to EdTech Support Model. Identify longer term challenges and potential solutions. ITMS
Investigate and begin implementation of an EdTech Forum platform and processes for instructors to discuss and share EdTech tools and experiences. ITMS
Planning and implementation of some of the Digital Learning Strategy recommendations. ITMS
Development of a process to address prioritizing, approving, and budgeting for new EdTech. ITMS
Search and approval for a new permanent space for the ITMS Studio. ITMS
Solutions to the LEARN infrastructure project and other LEARN improvements identified and started. ITMS
Contribute towards the Disability Inclusion Steering Committee’s projects to address matters of accessibility and to develop strategic plans to address barriers that limit access to education. ITMS
