Fauzia Mazhar will be giving a Thursday talk on "Are immigrants really a burden on our economy?"
Fauzia is originally from Pakistan but lived and worked in Bahrain, a small country in the Middle East, for about 15 years before she came to Canada in 2000. She has a bachelors in Education and Economics from Pakistan, and a bachelors in Psych and Sociology from Laurier, and is currently working on a Masters in Social Work at Laurier. Fauzia decided to pursue a career in Social Services after immigrating to Canada, which led her to work at various social service agencies in Kitchener in various positions, ranging form Employment counsellor to Program Coordinator.
Currently, Fauzia is a Community Health Worker in the Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre and works to connect members of ethnocultural communities to health and community resources for health and well being. She is also the lead staff for Community Health Helpers, Community Coalition for Refugee and Immigrant Support, and Multicultural Diabetes Education Program.
Come out to hear Fauzia at our Thursday Peace Talk. Bring your lunch!
