Note: This "Thursday Talk" will be held on Wednesday. Sarah Adams is the former MCC country rep for Syria/Lebanon and will be joining us to speak on the conflict in Syria and her experience of doing Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) work in a conflict zone.
Sarah first went to Syria to work with Mennonite Central Committee four years ago. She is now prohibited from entering the country by the armed conflict, but still maintains the relationships with and receives updates from the people that she worked with in Syria. Sarah advocates for pressuring government officials to urgently seek a nonviolent, political solution to end the conflict. Although aid addresses the symptoms of the problem, aid alone will not solve the conflict and so Sarah believes that political action is part of the solution.
