Hi MPACS! How is everyone doing? You've almost made it to the end of Winter 2020, hang in there you're doing great!

This weeks newsletter we have some exciting job opportunities, articles we think may interest you, an essay writing contest, and some great resources to help with working at home! 

Just because we are social distancing doesn't mean we can't still  talk! We miss seeing your faces on campus and want to keep in touch in the best way we know how... social media! Make sure you are following @pacsuwaterloo on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! We have been having lots of fun going into the lives of PACS students, and graduates, through takeovers on Instagram! 

Opportunities 

Lead and Workshop Facilitators

The Ripple Effect Education (TREE) is hiring for Lead Workshop Facilitators and Workshop Facilitators! 

TREE develops and facilitates skill-building programs to give youth the tools they need to resolve conflict in healthy and independent ways. TREE has worked with over 4,700 youth in Waterloo Region since 2016.

Peace and Human Security Intern 
Project Ploughshares is hiring two paid interns to work part time (4 days/ 32 hours a week for 8-12 weeks)!

Fraser Institute - Student Essay Contest 

This year for the annual Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest, students are tasked to explore the ideas of Milton Friedman and uncover the connections between economic freedom and other freedoms. 

The rules, essay guidelines, and past examples of winning essays can be found on the website here, the deadline for submissions is June 1, 2020. 

Cash prizes will be awarded

Journal for Peace and Justice Studies - Call for Papers


Manuscript submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter containing all contact information and title of the essay. No identifying information may be in the submission itself. All manuscripts submitted for publication must be prepared for blind review. Articles should be double-spaced throughout. An abstract of 100-150 words and a bibliography must be included with the submissions. Authors are advised to use inclusive language throughout the manuscript, and to follow the Chicago Manual Style.
