Print-to-PDF Re-Enabled in Outlook with Automatic Sensitivity Labelling
What’s happening?
IST has re-enabled the Print-to-PDF function in Outlook across campus. This functionality was previously restricted because sensitivity labels cannot be automatically applied to PDFs created through this method. However, the decision has been made to allow its use again—with an important update.
Going forward, when using Print-to-PDF in Outlook, a default sensitivity label of “Confidential” will be automatically applied to the resulting PDF. Users are responsible for reviewing and updating the sensitivity level as needed after the file has been created.
When is it happening?
- Tuesday, June 3 at 11:00 PM – Re-enablement for the Academic Support Vanguard group
- Friday, June 6 at 11:00 PM – Re-enablement for all Academic Support groups
What do I need to do?
- You may need to restart Outlook to see the changes.
- After printing to PDF, review and change the sensitivity label to reflect the appropriate classification for your document.
