Salient Energy wins big at Velocity Fund Finals

Friday, July 29, 2016

At the recent Velocity Fund Finals, Nanotechnology Engineering student Ryan Brown and his colleagues at Salient Energy won a grand prize of $25,000, the top hardware prize of $10,000, and admission to the Velocity Garage where they can continue development of their technology.

Salient Energy is poised to revolutionize the electrical grid with its zinc-ion battery, which can quickly store and discharge large amounts of energy. It supports the broad scale utilization of distributed renewable energy systems. The battery, which is affordable, safe, long-lasting, and easy to manufacture, is based on a wholly unique chemistry and a novel nanomaterial cathode.

Congratulations to Salient Energy, including Ryan Brown, Professor Linda Nazar, Dr. Dipan Kundu and Dr. Brian Adams, on their most recent achievement.
