About the author

The 20-Minute Retreat

David B. Perrin, Ph.D., member of our UW Religious Studies Department and former President of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, has just published a new book: The 20-Minute Retreat: 18 Sessions with the Saints to Nourish Your Faith Life. From the back cover of the book we read: "The book contains a series of thoughtful, faith-filled meditations for people who seek to find space for prayer and reflection at their own pace and in their own time. Explore such themes as leader-ship, sin, justice, prayer, blessing and the cross with selected companion saints who have walked these paths and can guide us on the way."

The book is available from Novalis Books in Canada under the title: The 20-Minute Retreat.

Reviews

“David Perrin reaches into the deep wells of Christian tradition to serve us a drink of needed water. This is more than a simple “feel-good” spirituality. You will enter some real depths here. Put this book on your coffee-table.” Ronald Rolheiser OMI President, Oblate School of Theology, San Antonio, Texas.

“Perrin’s book of 18 meditations has emerged from a ministry of leading others on spiritual retreats. His accessible language, the questions he raises, his appeal to lived experiences, the choice of saints to accompany prayer, and his very practical advice converge to produce an admirable guide.” Gerald O’Collins, SJ, author of 74 books, including most recently Revelation, Inspiration, and Tradition.
