Tuition Fees

A one-time $200 non-refundable application fee and a $300 tuition deposit is required for each term you wish to register. Returning students and students who are Canadian Permanent Residents or Citizens are only required to pay the tuition deposit for each term they wish to register. 

Tuition fees listed are for full-time studies and include diagnostic testing and course instruction. These are subject to change, and are due two weeks before the start of classes. A $100 penalty applies for late fees. A $50 administrative fee applies if arrangements need to be made for a deferral of fees.

Additional Fees
  • University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) - required for international students living in Canada; if you are a returning student, please check your UHIP fee amount by emailing renison.ip@uwaterloo.ca.
    • $66 per month for single person 
    • UHIP coverage must be purchased regardless of medical coverage from your home country. Dependents (spouse and/or children) must also be enrolled in UHIP upon arrival in Canada for an additional cost.                                   
  • The Student Services Fee includes:
    • University of Waterloo identification card (WatCard)
    • On-campus social events and activities organized by Renison ELI Peer Leaders
    • EFAS academic excursion (Fall, Winter and Spring terms only)
    • Grand River Transit bus/transit pass
  • Textbooks and workbooks (estimated cost of $100 per term)

English for Success (EFS) Fees

EFS program fees

Registration Fees Tuition and Incidental Fees
A one-time $75 non-refundable application fee and a per session $300 tuition deposit is required for registration. Remaining fees are due two weeks before the start of the program. A $100 penalty applies for late fees. 

These fees include English language placement testing, course materials, course instruction and EFS student services (student card and on campus activities).

Immersion Experience Other fees
This includes double-room accommodation in on-campus student residence, evening and weekend activities and excursions, and full meal plan (3 meals per day from Monday to Friday, and 2 meals per day on Saturday and Sunday - brunch and dinner).

This includes EFS student services fees (student card and on campus activities) and University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) coverage. UHIP must be purchased regardless of medical coverage from your home country. Dependents (spouse and/or children) must also be enrolled in UHIP upon arrival in Canada for an additional cost.

  • students arrive and depart on the program arrival/departure dates
  • a minimum of 3 students are travelling together
  • flight information must be submitted by email (to renison.ip@uwaterloo.ca) by June 6, 2026 (transportation from/to the airport cannot be guaranteed if flight information is submitted after this date).
