By Jasmine Ayoub, Student Experience & Housing Programs Assistant
In my job as a Programs Assistant at Renison University College, I've been involved in various tasks, including helping with administrative, logistical coordination, and making sure events run smoothly. I worked closely with the Student Experience and Housing team to plan and run events that align well with the overall student experience. This teamwork helped me enhance my skills in handling multiple tasks and problem-solving in a multifaceted work environment.
My involvement in the coordination and delivery of co-curricular activities spanned across various programs, including English For Academic Success (EFAS), General English at Renison (GEAR), Living-Learning Communities for Warrior Academic Leadership Community (WALC), Social Development Studies (SDS), and Bridge to Academic Success in English (BASE). These initiatives not only enriched the academic experience but also fostered a sense of community and cultural exchange.
This co-op position has been a valuable experience for me. It's given me a better grasp of how to coordinate programs, organize events, and create a welcoming atmosphere for students. I've come to see how crucial it is to focus on the student experience, making sure they not only learn well but also feel supported and engaged. Being part of a collaborative team has not only enhanced my ability to work with others but has also emphasized the importance of teamwork in ensuring a positive and inclusive student environment. Through these experiences, I've realized that the impact extends beyond the logistics -- it's about creating an atmosphere where students thrive academically and feel connected to the community around them.
