Congratulations Tim Z and Tyler H!

Thank you all Renison residents who completed our start-of-term feedback survey a couple weeks ago!

We are pleased to announce the winners from the survey draw! Congratulations to Tim Z. and Tyler H.! Both Tim and Tyler are the lucky winners each of a $50 Amazon gift card!

We were so happy to see a total of 111 residents completing the survey out of a total 209, for a 53% response rate. Your feedback is very important to us as we work to enhance and improve our residence community, including the supports and events, as well as the physical environment.

Some of the many helpful things you told us...

  • You seem to be loving your overall residence experience so far! 50% of residents are satisfied whereas an additional 35% of residents are very satisfied.
  • You told us that the Moose Room could use a little bit more love, so we will be working in the weeks and months ahead to find ways to improve this space, including its cleanliness.
  • For food, you're loving the sushi bowls, chicken, grilled cheese, beef stew, and taco nights. However, it sounds like you could go without eating the fish chowder, meatloaf, or tofu and vegetable stirfry in the future. It also sounds like the interactive food stations are a big hit, but more creative vegetarian options would be helpful.
  • You seem to be loving our Renison events! 50% are satisfied and a further 29% are very satisfied. Some of your favourite events so far have been the Succulents and Ice Cream Social, bonfire party, tote paint night, and karaoke. We hear that more quieter, mellow activities like craft nights would be appreciated in the future. Feedback was very torn about whether we play too much Taylor Swift music or not enough during the events. The results are still inconclusive on that one.
  • The majority of residents rate the residence environment both excellent (36%), good (42%), and fair (13%) as being a place that is inclusive of all culture backgrounds, ethnicities, and nationalities. 9% further said our community was adequate, whereas 0% of respondents ranked Renison as poor. Win!
  • 98% of you know your Residence Don by name and 92% of you feel like you belong as part of our Renison community. Amazing! It's also great that 92% of you know where to go if you need help with anything in residence. Awesome!
  • We were also glad to see that 0% felt Renison was poor in creating a safe culture, free from any sexual harassment or sexual violence. We're pleased to see 43% of survey respondents consider Renison as excellent, 39% ranked good, 12% ranked "fair", and 6% ranked Renison as being adequate in this regard.
  • We appreciated your feedback about Renison's cleanliness (6% felt dissatisfied and 2% were very dissatisfied), as well as the quality of social spaces (5% felt dissatisfied and 2% were very dissatisfied).  We will be working with our Facilities and Housekeeping teams to continue to make improvements and enhancements to the spaces in the weeks ahead. We are also excited to begin consultation groups in January to look at new way to enhance our new Link Student Lounge beside the Moose Tracks Connection Desk, and especially find ways to support equity-deserving students find supportive spaces in Renison. Stay tuned!

Please know that we are deeply grateful for any feedback you provide about your Renison community. We want you to know your feedback makes an impact so we can continue to grow and make our community one of the best places to live, study, and thrive as a Waterloo student.
