A local site give the class the opportunity to look at a relatively natural section of the channel (Monarch Woods) in series with a restored section in Filsinger Park and a concrete trapezoidal section. River engineering is not what it used to be, and most projects involve multiple objectives that can include things like aquatic and riparian habitat rehabilitation, water quality improvements, and channel baseflow augmentation.
