Bio

Jeremy is an aerospace engineer and entrepreneur driven by an intense curiosity about people, systems, and their problems. Over the last 8 years, he has led teams of ~10 to 100 people to deliver key results under tight constraints—e.g. Canada’s first automated gate-to-gate flight on an airplane, regulatory approvals for large remotely piloted aircraft, $58M in B2B and B2G revenue and LOIs, 70 to 75% of R&D expenditures subsidized via grant and tax strategy.

Jeremy’s foray into aerospace started in high school, assisting research on vision-based aircraft collision avoidance at York University. During undergrad, Jeremy held various engineering and leadership roles with the University of Toronto Aerospace Team, ending his time as Executive Director having nearly doubled sponsorships to 63 corporate and academic partners providing $19M of annual in-kind and cash support. Jeremy then served three years as CTO at The Sky Guys, one of Canada’s top commercial drone operators. While there, Jeremy founded a self-sustaining engineering division developing special-purpose and long-range drones, and he helped scale operations across North America. Most recently, Jeremy co-founded and serves as COO of Ribbit, a cargo airline that uses self-flying airplanes to enhance safety and efficiency for businesses and governments. Ribbit is venture-backed, credited with various firsts in Canadian aviation, and works with several wholesalers, retailers, and government customers.

Besides his professional work, Jeremy supports the broader aerospace and defence community through service at universities, colleges, aerospace industry associations (e.g. AIAA, CASI), standards councils (e.g. RTCA), and government organizations (e.g. Transport Canada, Canadian Forces Aerospace Warfare Centre). As of 2023, he holds a status-only appointment as an adjunct professor of systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo. Jeremy also regularly speaks on tech, startups, and leadership, including regular media appearances.

Jeremy completed a BASc in Engineering Science (Univ. of Toronto) and a PhD in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering (Univ. of Waterloo). Outside work, he plays piano, reads WWII history, and enjoys trying new food with his partner. Jeremy believes that anyone can lead, everyone must lead no matter their title or position, and the best leaders do so by example, expertise, and empathy.
