My research is motivated by the need to provide improved model/data comparisons for ice and fluid dynamics in cold regions. We look at both sea ice and lake ice as well as simulate flows beneath ice and for stratified boundary layers, commonly found at high latitudes. We have been looking into physically based approaches, and data-driven approaches. I am keen to explore data-driven approaches that maintain the fidelity of the physical system.
