Andrea Marrocco

MASc

Andrea is a MASc student in Civil Engineering and the Collaborative Water Program.  She received a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph, and a complimentary diploma in Environmental Technology from Georgian College.  Andrea has worked with a number of government agencies and private companies in areas related to groundwater engineering and science. Andrea’s research is focused on the use of Carbon-Based Injection (CBI) for the treatment of petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs). CBI is a relatively new technology, gaining widespread commercial use, and involves the sorption of contaminants in groundwater to an injected activated carbon slurry and subsequent biodegradation.  She is using a combination of laboratory and field methods to better understand the effectiveness of this novel technology.
