Bill McLaren

BASc

Bill is a MASc student in Civil Engineering and the Collaborative Water Program. He received a BASc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo with an Option in Water Resources. The University’s co-op program allowed Bill to work with government agencies and university research teams in a variety of disciplines, including groundwater remediation, drinking water/wastewater treatment, and nanotechnology. His research is focused on Carbon-Based Injection (CBI) for the treatment of petroleum hydrocarbons. Bill’s research efforts primarily involve numerical modelling (supplemented by field/laboratory investigations) to assess subsurface transport, sorption, and degradation processes in order to better understand the long-term effectiveness of CBI as an in-situ groundwater remediation technique.
