Sonia is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She received a BSc in Environmental Science and Engineering from Shiraz University, Iran and a MSc in Environmental Pollution Science and Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology. Sonia’s master research was in collaboration with Tehran Petroleum Refinery and Copenhagen University, and focused on the remediation of oil contaminated soils using microwave irradiation.  Her PhD research deals with the targeted delivery of functional nanoparticle for in situ treatment. She is using a combination of laboratory and numerical modeling studies to better understand nanoparticle transport and the effectiveness of this novel technology.
