Teaching Undergraduates to Examine the Science-Society Interface

This Winter 2013 term, the Department of Philosophy offers undergraduates across campus a special topics course on Science in Society (Philosophy 271). Taught by Waterloo Chair in Science and Society, Dr. Heather Douglas, the course gives students from all backgrounds the opportunity to examine the powerful role of science and scientists in society today. Here, Heather Douglas discusses the course and why students, and all citizens, should learn about the science-society interface.
