Dr. Robert Liang
Rob was an NSERC post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biology at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Mark Servos and Prof. Norman Zhou in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. He completed his PhD in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2017, where his research focused on multifunctional applications of titanium dioxide nanomaterials in water treatment processes.
His research focused on the development and application of catalytic nanomaterials for UV-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) to treat emerging contaminants, including microcystins from cyanobacteria and endocrine-disrupting compounds derived from consumer products. He was also involved in translating this research into applied solutions through the development of WaterPuris, a startup focused on treating wastewater from food and beverage manufacturers.
