Azar Fattahi

Technician (Jan 2020 - May 2026)

Research Interests

Azar Fattihi completed her MSc in December 2019 in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo with Norman Zhou. During her graduate studies, she conducted her experimental work in the Servos Lab, where she carried out natural organic matter (NOM) experiments and performed LC-MS/MS analysis of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs).

Her MSc research focused on developing Ag–TiO₂ nano-photocatalysts for removing natural organic matter and pharmaceuticals from water. The work addressed limitations of conventional treatment processes and explored advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) using modified TiO₂ materials. She compared graphene- and silver-doped TiO₂ against commercial TiO₂ (P25) to evaluate improvements in photocatalytic performance for water treatment applications.

After graduating, she continued working in the Servos Lab as a technician supporting COVID-19 wastewater surveillance efforts. She also contributed to LC-MS/MS data integration and analysis across multiple projects. Over the past five years, she has continued to support the group on a part-time basis, assisting with data processing, analytical interpretation, and manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journal publications.
