Dongchang joined the Servos Lab in September 2018 and is in collaboration with Dr. Xu (Shine) Zhang, Cape Breton University. Dongchang focuses on developing the SERS detection in organic solvents, exploring the solvent effect in Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) sensitivity and its role in affecting the Enhancement Mechanism. SERS has been widely developed in its applications and studied in its fundamental enhancement mechanism (i.e. Electromagnetic Enhancement and Chemical Enhancement) since its discovery. It is significant to study the solvent effect in SERS, because it would accelerate the development of SERS detection in applications in Biological and Environmental applications and it would offer advanced understanding in SERS Enhancement Mechanism.
