Robert is currently a NSERC post-doctoral fellow in the department of Biology at the University of Waterloo under Dr. Mark Servos and Norman Zhou in Mechanical Engineering. Robert completed his PhD degree in 2017 in the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering department of Waterloo dealing with multifunctional applications of titanium dioxide nanomaterials in water treatment processes. Robert’s main research area focuses on the use of catalytic nanomaterials for UV-based advanced oxidation process (AOP) treatment of emerging contaminants such as microcystins from blue-green algae and endocrine disrupting compounds derived from consumer products. Robert is currently also developing a startup, WaterPuris, that seeks to treat wastewater from food and beverage manufacturers.
