Aeronautical Research Coordinator
Rafael Pastorin Repato is the Aeronautical Research Coordinator at the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics (WISA). In this role, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of WISA’s AL250 flight simulator and supports sustainable aeronautics research by providing insight and operational expertise to faculty and graduate students. Drawing on his aviation experience, Rafael contributes to research initiatives that advance innovation in aviation and sustainability.
Rafael is a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Science and Aviation program, holding a Bachelor of Science, a Commercial Pilot Licence, a Group 1 Instrument Rating, and a Class 3 Flight Instructor Rating. As an active flight instructor, he combines practical aviation experience with research support and outreach activities. Through his work at WISA, Rafael applies his aviation knowledge to advance the Institute’s mission of being a global leader in sustainable aeronautical research, technology, and education.
