TRACES

Saturday, February 14, 2026 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

TRACES is an annual multidisciplinary African cultural showcase produced by the University of Waterloo African Student Association (UWASA). Through theatre, dance, spoken word, fashion, and storytelling, TRACES celebrates African and Black diasporic identities while amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering intercultural dialogue.

This year’s theme, “Ubuntu”—a Zulu philosophy meaning “I am because we are”—explores the power of community, connection, and collective humanity. Rooted in the belief that our identities are shaped through our relationships, TRACES invites audiences to reflect on belonging, resilience, and shared responsibility.
