Our Theatres
The Theatres at UWaterloo offer versatile venues suitable for a myriad of events, from captivating performances to dynamic conferences and everything in between. With three distinct theatres to choose from, we cater to diverse needs and preferences. Whether it's an intimate gathering or a grand production, our spaces are equipped to accommodate your vision.

The Theatre of the Arts, located in the Modern Languages Building (ML), has an amphitheatre stage which seats approximately 400 people. The Theatre and Performance program uses the Theatre of the Arts for classes as well as performances.
The Humanities Theatre, located in Hagey Hall (HH), has a proscenium stage which seats up to 721 people. The theatre is used for University of Waterloo classes and events, and community events.
The intimate Studio 180, located in Hagey Hall (HH) seats 60 people, and houses classes, productions, and student performance projects. Studio 180 may be booked by Theatre and Performance students for rehearsal purposes.
Policy 29: Smoke-free campus
Please note that as of July 1st 2024, the University of Waterloo has adopted a smoke-free policy.
All forms of smoking, holding lighted tobacco or cannabis, and using e-cigarettes or other vaping devices is prohibited on University of Waterloo properties except for in temporary designated smoking areas (available until April 30th, 2025).
This policy does not apply to Indigenous ceremonies or traditions, or to individuals with documented medical accommodations.
