Burbacher House and Woodland Cultural Centre Tour

Friday, September 9, 2022 1:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

On Friday, Sep 9, MPACS and MTS students will have an opportunity to tour Brubacher House, a restored 1850s Pennsylvania German Mennonite farmhouse with intimate ties to the Haldimand Tract, and the Woodland Cultural Centre, established in October 1972 following the closure of the Mohawk Institute Residential School.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about the history of settlement and indigenous relationships on this land, as well as the impact of the Residential School Systems. The event will take place at the Brubacher House on North Waterloo Campus (see map here), and will include a tour of the historic farm house, a virtual tour of the Mohawk Institute hosted by the Woodland Cultural Centre, and a time to debrief over snacks in the Brubacher House gardens.

Although optional, attendance is recommended to help set the tone for ensuing studies. For more information, contact Bekah Smoot-Enns.

RSVP required by August 22, 2022.
