MTS student Kate Strathdee reflects on her Supervised Experience in Ministry
I am currently doing my second Supervised Experience in Ministry at Parkwood Seniors Community, assisting chaplain Lisa Carr-Pries. I have been leading Bible studies and hymn sings in retirement and long-term care wards and visiting one-to one with residents. I also attended one care conference and palliative care conference: where I learned about how Parkwood responds to residents' needs and prepares end-of-life care.
This past Sunday I had the opportunity to lead a Sunday service and will do one more in August. My eyes have been opened to how we can communicate with those who have dementia, and what holistic elderly care looks like. God is at work at the Parkwood Community and I'm thankful that I've been given the opportunity to witness that.
