Several scholarships, valued at up to $1,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding students entering full-time studies in the Faculty of Arts who show an interest in pursuing a degree in English. This fund was established in memory of Charles H. Lithgow and his son, Ian H. Lithgow, vice-president university affairs, University of Waterloo from 1997 to 2000. Both men valued concise, clear, and direct prose.
