Congratulations to three University of Waterloo water students who have been named Vanier Canada Graduate Scholars in the annual competition announced June 19 by the Government of Canada.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships help Canadian institutions attract and retain highly qualified doctoral students in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health research, establishing Canada as a global centre for research excellence and higher training. They are awarded for demonstrated leadership skills and a high level of scholarly achievement in graduate studies.

The scholarships valued at $50,000 per year, for three years are funded by Canada’s three federal research granting agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
