Professor Ren received her Bachelor and Master's degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology (China) in 1992 and 1995, respectively. She received her PhD from the University of Toronto in 2004 and joined the University of Waterloo afterwards. Ren's primary research interest is to develop microfluidic chip (Lab-on-a-Chip) technology for chemical and biomedical assays.
