New Logo (Erick)

Logo has been agreed upon and is to be implemented for the next term

  • Visibility
    • The Nexus logo will be used in a few more locations to improve visibility.

Personnel

  • Engineering Computing to hire a new staff member to now that Bruce has moved to Science

Growth of Nexus

  • Grow of Nexus has been linear, more to come in the foreseeable future
  • Management has become easier

Report about Engineering Computing

  • Fire caused substancial damage as a result there is to be physical cleaning of servers
  • On April 23 cleaning is to take place
    • mywaterloo will be down
    • engmail will be down
    • DC + SUS + DNS down in Engineering as well
    • Enough redundancy in Nexus to accomodate
  • Power outages have been common lately
  • External Review is ongoing
  • Servers to be rearranged and moved to other places on campus
  • Hon to create new DNS server from existing DNS server
  • Terminal Server in Engineering to be deployed

Report from Arts

  • Arts is to get their own router
  • Nevil had to disable, expire, move, re-route email and change password of an account in Arts due to inappropriate account use
  • The password synching service with Eng2k is not happening

Business in AHS

  • Issues regarding mywaterloo.ca and the handling of attachments
  • Update on the new addition to LHI
  • Issues with XP2 being deployed causes the pc not to boot
    • Suggestions include patches out of sequence and spyware

Other business

  • Erick to compile a list of 2 year old accounts
  • Ray to package Adobe Reader 7, Firefox & JavaRunTime for next term
