Students' everyday experiences at UWaterloo are shaped by their intersecting identities. Rania shares her experience as an international student on campus and how she found a “home far away from home” as a Warrior. Learn about the Graduate Student Association's (GSA) Equity Strategy and ongoing advocacy to build a community where everyone can be seen, heard and respected.
Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO)
The SVPRO supports anyone on campus who has experienced or been impacted by sexual violence with:
- Safety planning
- Short-term coping strategies
- Referrals and accommodations
- Understanding options for reporting
They also facilitate workshops and training opportunities on topics related to consent, bystander intervention, and supporting survivors.
Guided by anti-oppressive, intersectional, trauma-informed, and collaborative approaches, they look forward to working with you to co-create a consent culture on campus and beyond!
BIPOC Student Collective
The BIPOC Student Collective is a new virtual space that centres the academic and social experiences and needs of Black, Indigenous, and POC (People of Colour) graduate students. Facilitated over Discord, the group aims to:
- Serve as a safe space for BIPOC LGBTQ2+ students
- Foster intergenerational support and mentorship between faculty and students
- Facilitate peer-to-peer support between graduate students and undergraduate student-led equity seeking groups
- Identify opportunities for professional and academic development
