Noticastrum

Noticastrum DC. is a South American genus revised by Zardini (1985). The genus includes some 21 species that have white, yellow, or purplish ray florets (anthocyanotic).  Semple (2006) included some species of Noticastrum in a survey of pappus variation in the Chrysopsidinae; the pappus can be reddish due to the presence of anthocyanin in small dots of color on the bristles.
