Narrow-leaf White-topped Aster
Sericocarpus linifolius (L.) Britt., Sterns & Poggenburg is native in dry to moist sandy, clay, and gravelly soils of open deciduous and pine woods, oak and pine barrens, roadsides, and fields from southern New Hampshire to eastern Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana (Semple and Leonard 2006 FNA). The species is distinguished by its glabrous stems, linear leaves, 4–6 mm involucres and erect ray corollas longer than pappi. The species is diploid (2n=18).
