Jones's Aster
Eurybia jonesiae (Lamboy) G.L. Nesom is native to rich woods, moist ravines, rocky ridges, wooded slopes near streams of the Piedmont in oak-hickory-pine forest region of Alabama and Georgia (Brouillet 2006 FNA). The species is distinguished by its sometime squarrose 36-50 ovate, elliptic, or lanceolate phyllaries and 7–15, blue or violet rays. It could be confused with E. mirabilis. The species is hexaploid (2n=54).
The species was named in honor of Almut Jones first as Aster jonesiae Lamboy.
