Solidago simplex var. simplex

Solidago simplex var. simplex is the most widely distributed race of the species.  It occurs from Alaska to Mexico in the Rocky Mts. and across boreal and prairie Canada to Ontario then south into Michigan. Throughout its range the variety is diploid except in northern Michigan (Peirson et al. 2012; Peirson et al. 2013).  See Semple & Cook (2006 FNA).
