Symphyotrichum nahanniense

Symphyotrichum nahanniense (W.J. Cody) Semple is currently known from about six locations in Nahanni National Park Reserve in the southwestern corner of Northwest Territories in Canada. It is similar to Symphyotrichum boreale. It is found only on tufa deposits at hot springs. The species was included in a multivariate study by Owen et al. (2006). The species is diploid 2n=16. The assistance of Parks Canada during field work in NT in 2003 is gratefully acknowledged.
