The moisture in air is one of the most important sources of wetting in buildings, and hence can cause performance problems. The design professional needs to know how to design and construct buildings which are safe from water vapour-related damage. To do this, it is essential that the physics of water vapour, its transport by diffusion and air movement, and its deposition and removal by condensation and evaporation be understood.
We are currently assisting ABRI Sustainable Design in a study of moisture problems in seasonally occupied houses and cottages.
