Hiring co-ops

Hiring for six support co-op students for the fall term, plus two QA co-ops, is nearly complete.

End of term pause

  • End of term pause starts August 18, and continues to September 8. Our pause is always the last week of term, the week between terms, and the first week of the following term to allow for off-boarding and on-boarding of co-ops. View the news item for full details and how this pause may impact you/your site.
  • Submit your migration request for the fall term as soon as possible. We may still be able to include some new migration requests for smaller sites before August 18, but there is no guarantee.

Updates from Training & Support

  • WCMS 3 Essentials Level 1 is now available on LEARN. This is the new required course for the WCMS. Content maintainers can still complete WCMS 3 Fundamentals although not required.
  • We have just over 70 registrants for WCMS 3 Essentials so far.
  • For more information, review and share WCMS 3 courses.
  • We welcome all feedback regarding this new course! Please reach out to Sarah Cooper if you have additional comments/questions/overall feedback.
  • Plans are in the works for a second course this year which will cover more advance features of the WCMS. This course will be recommended for Site managers and Content editors who will be very active users on their websites and require/want additional training.

Development updates

  • WCMS 3.2.6 is now being tested with the hope that we can start rolling it out in the next few business days. Key features include:
    • Background options for sections
    • Listing and teaser blocks for catalogs
    • Text alignment options for copy blocks
    • Migration of expand/collapse
  • We are continuing to investigate issues in WCMS 2 with 50x errors and “things with spaces” causing access denied errors
  • Focus points in the current sprint are largely the same as the previous sprint:
    • Migration bug fixes
    • Continuing work on supporting Chinese and French in WCMS 3
    • Investigating missing logins and unexpected redirects on login in authentication-required sites
    • Functionality to support a new University home page in WCMS 3
