Laser and resistance spot welding (RSW) of magnesium alloys
Magnesium alloys are implemented to help produce lightweight vehicles which ultimately results in better fuel efficiency. Both laser and resistance spot welding (RSW) are being investigated in order to identify the effect of different variables on achieving an acceptable weld in magnesium alloys. The process, microstructure and mechanical properties of welds will be examined in order to produce a welding schedule that will satisfy industrial needs.
