Dr. James Rush, Vice-President, Academic and Provost, opened the 2024 UWTL conference.

We're here to help. That's our purpose at the Centre for Teaching Excellence.

How do we do this? By aiming to inspire teaching excellence, innovation, and inquiry at the University of Waterloo. By advancing effective teaching and learning practices through collaboration, leadership, and capacity building. And by promoting an institutional culture that values effective teaching and meaningful learning.

In this annual report, we present highlights of our work from the 2023-24 fiscal year, under three main themes: supporting faculty development; promoting student engagement; and meeting ongoing and emerging needs.

We also provide—in our CTE at a Glance section—data about our annual participation and participant feedback that provides a snapshot of how you've engaged with us.

Finally, in our On the Horizon section, we outline our areas of focus for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

We're especially proud of the signature programs, activities, and resources that we've developed over many years:

And I am very proud of our CTE staff members who dedicate themselves to our work. As I said, we are here to help, and we value the many partners who work alongside us to promote and support teaching effectiveness at the University of Waterloo.
