Musculoskeletal disorders, also known as repetitive strain injuries or strains and sprains, include disorders such as shoulder tendonitis, low back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. Over 40% of all healthcare related injuries are MSD, the bulk of which are related to client/patient lifts and transfers. This conference will highlight the implementation of successful strategies for the reduction of MSD related to patient/client handling/transfers/repositioning, along with the associated training, equipment and policies and procedures. Settings addressed will include community, hospital and long term care. Program sessions include:
- Setting the scene: Barriers and challenges
- What the research is telling us
- Case study presentations (community, hospital, long term care)
- Who, what and how to take action
If you are interested in the potential for decreasing absenteeism and increasing employee satisfaction through successful MSD prevention strategies, then you will not want to miss this conference. This conference will be of interest to employers, human resources professionals, labour, health & safety consultants, ergonomists, government and researchers.
