The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement is a dynamic space on the University of Waterloo campus, home to peace-oriented innovators, and established organizations from the regions vibrant peacebuilding field. The common goal of advancing peace collaboratively and creatively is the lifeblood of the Centre for Peace Advancements unique working community. The Centre for Peace Advancement stands as a bridge between campus and community, academics and practice, and faith and justice.

Resurfacing: Mennonite Floor Patterns (exhibit open until 20 February)
Drop by the Grebel Gallery between now and February to see artist Margruite Krahn's exhibit that restores and re-imagines hand painted Mennonite house barn floor patterns from the turn of the 20th century. Her work engages with the contrast of home as a sanctuary and a place that holds conflict, alongside changing traditions and practices of beauty.
Traditional Pattern Making Workshop
Join visiting artist Margruite Kranh for a print making workshop at historic Brubacher House. Create your own design using traditional methods and colors on pre-primed paper or canvas placemats, or a canvas floor cloth.
Daughters, mothers, grandmothers and other sexual outlaws
This pop up exhibit created by Inter Pares and hosted by the SHORE Centre provides a glimpse into the lives and struggles of feminist activists across El Salvador, rural landless communities in Bangladesh, and in informal settlements of Manila in the Philippines, as they advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Uplifting Black History Month
Black History Month, an annual commemoration that begins February 1st, is a time to celebrate the contributions and achievements of Black communities in Canada and other countries around the world. The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement is dedicated to fostering inclusion, collaboration, and community-mindedness. BWOSS and BeBlended are two of the many organizations that call the Grebel Peace Incubator home.
Systems thinking underway
Map the System 2025 is now in full motion at the University of Waterloo! Registering is the easy part – it is now time for research! During February and March, students will be preparing their competition deliverables to be submitted by April 1. The top five teams will present their research on April 7th at the Campus Finals, and the winning team progresses to national finals at the Banff Systems Summit from May 19-22 and potentially the global finals in Oxford in July.
Bringing hope and healing to Syrian families
As the political climate in Syria changes, many Syrian families are left with confusion and countless questions. In hopes of answering these questions, some are turning to Findsuri for help. Findsuri is a non-profit organization supported by the Grebel Peace Incubator that provides a secure online platform with resources designed to find missing Syrian individuals. As the need and the platform continues to expand, they need more support. They have launched a fundraising campaign to raise $50,000 towards their goal.
