The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement is a dynamic space on the University of Waterloo campus, home to peace-oriented innovators, and established organizations from the regions vibrant peace-building field. The goal of advancing peace is the lifeblood of the Centre for Peace Advancements unique working community. The Centre for Peace Advancement stands as a bridge between campus and community, academics and practice, and faith and justice.

UWaterloo operates the world's largest co-operative education program, and now supports a wide array of student entrepreneurship opportunities. In addition to being the home of countless cutting-edge tech companies, our surrounding community has nurtured significant social innovations in areas such as restorative justice, poverty alleviation, and refugee resettlement.

Looking at the Sky
Nina Bailey-Dick’s powerful batiks and collages are a feminist declaration of love for the land, sky, and self; an invitation to embrace both the beautiful and the broken parts of ourselves. This exhibit is a call to action to speak up, take up space, make art, and share vulnerability – skills needed for personal and collective action and healing. 'Looking at the Sky' will be open from Saturday, April 4 to Wednesday, April 29.

Union Co-operative secures 58 affordable homes!
The Union Co-operative recently took ownership of two apartment buildings, marking their first property purchase as a collective! By protecting these 58 two-bedroom homes Union Co-operative is helping maintain affordable housing in the KW region. Union Co-operative is the first community real estate co-operative in Canada to leverage local investments to preserve affordable housing stock, serving as a model for other communities.
Demine Robotics: Where are they now?
Demine Robotics, a former Grebel Peace Incubator start-up stationed in both Cambodia and Canada, has left its mark around the world. With the goal of accelerating the clearance of landmine-infested land, Richard Yim, CEO & co-founder, Jared Baribeau, CTO & co-founder, have safeguarded 100,000 m2 (25 acres) of land containing explosive weapons in Cambodia.
Starting small: localizing the Sustainable Development Goals
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) starts from the ground-up. This is why community-based research is vital in working toward these 2030 goals, as outlined by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement has teamed up with the Centre for Community-Based Research (CCBR) to create resources on localizing the SDGs for grassroots communities, small start-ups, and community-based organizations.
