The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is coming up on September 30th, and it is a day to honour the survivors of residential schools and better understand the ongoing impacts that colonization has on the lives of Indigenous peoples. Reconciliation is an ongoing process that requires continuous learning and understanding, and decolonizing our minds and communities is just the first step.

Ready, Set, Innovate

A reflection on the Fall 2025 Innovation Open House, where aspiring entrepreneurs and students alike got to connect, network, and discover untapped resources, useful for their various endeavours.  

Outgoing Program Assistant Pinar Gurgen reflects on the term past: awards won, incubator ventures joining, long-term Core Collaborator staff leaving, and the way meaningful work is built through relationships.

Sixteen aspiring changemakers from across southern Ontario gathered to kick off the 2025-26 Peace Innovators Scholarship and Mentoring Program, a 10-month journey learning how to implement peace and justice-focused ideas in their schools / communities.  

The Research Highlights page builds on the Centre’s commitment to research as a tool for understanding and responding to the complex challenges of building peace. It features recent publications, Research Fellows, and affiliated research institutions.

Running from July 2nd to September 30th at the Grebel Gallery, this exhibit brings together photography by Ndagire and prose from Leah Reesor-Keller's book, Tending Tomorrow: Courageous Change for People and Planet. Through images and words, the exhibit explores connection, care, and resilience in the face of environmental and social challenges. More than just a visual exhibit, Tending Tomorrow, Picturing Today is an invitation to reimagine the future.

New mentors in the circle!

The Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement is excited to welcome two new mentors to the circle, bringing deep experience in community development, social finance, and impact-driven leadership.  Welcoming Sean Campbell and Kate Pearce! 

Gabriel Jabile, a third-year Engineering student, recently represented the University of Waterloo at the Map the System Global Finals in Oxford, hosted by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Competing against 40 teams from around the world, Gabriel fell just short of a podium place, but was recognized with an award for excellence for the inclusion of underrepresented voices for his research on livestock disease outbreaks done in collaboration with Ugandan farmers.

Welcome and welcome back!

Spring 2025 has brought another wave of renewal to the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement, with new roles, returning participants, and exciting transitions. The Centre continues to be a dynamic space where community members grow alongside one another and deepen their impact. 

On June 25, a group of women will take the stage at The Registry Theatre in Kitchener to share something exciting: their lived stories. The Truth Is..., this year’s culminating performance of the X-Page Storytelling Workshop, is more than just a night of theatre, it’s the result of twelve weeks of creativity, courage, and deep connection.
