Sixteen aspiring changemakers from across southern Ontario gathered to kick off the 2025-26 Peace Innovators Scholarship and Mentoring Program, a 10-month journey learning how to implement peace and justice-focused ideas in their schools / communities.

Running from July 2nd to September 30th at the Grebel Gallery, this exhibit brings together photography by Ndagire and prose from Leah Reesor-Keller's book, Tending Tomorrow: Courageous Change for People and Planet. Through images and words, the exhibit explores connection, care, and resilience in the face of environmental and social challenges. More than just a visual exhibit, “Tending Tomorrow, Picturing Today” is an invitation to reimagine the future.

Gabriel Jabile, a third-year Engineering student, recently represented the University of Waterloo at the Map the System Global Finals in Oxford, hosted by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Competing against 40 teams from around the world, Gabriel fell just short of a podium place, but was recognized with an award for excellence for the inclusion of underrepresented voices for his research on livestock disease outbreaks done in collaboration with Ugandan farmers.
Spring 2025 has brought another wave of renewal to the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement, with new roles, returning participants, and exciting transitions. The Centre continues to be a dynamic space where community members grow alongside one another and deepen their impact.
On June 25, a group of women will take the stage at The Registry Theatre in Kitchener to share something exciting: their lived stories. ‘The Truth Is...’, this year’s culminating performance of the X-Page Storytelling Workshop, is more than just a night of theatre, it’s the result of twelve weeks of creativity, courage, and deep connection.
This spring, the Centre for Peace Advancement hosted Radical Healing: Re-storying Trauma, Resilience and Justice, a transformative graduate course led by Dr. Johonna McCants-Turner. Through arts-based practices, guest speakers, and deep engagement the Centre's spaces, students explored what it means to heal and pursue resilience together.

Additional art joins the Grebel Gallery for National AccessAbility Week (May 25–31, 2025). Featuring works by Elizabeth Wenger, Charlotte Hancock, Corn Schattman and grandmother of Zelal Tutak, the exhibit explores visible and invisible disabilities through needlepoint, mixed media, and textile art. On display until June 17.
