Announcing the 2024/25 award and prize recipients from the Theatre and Performance program!
2nd, 3rd, and 4th year Academic Achievement Award
These awards are presented to the students with the highest cumulative major average in their year. This year's recipients were Ethan Warren in second year, Morgaine McEvoy in third year, and Hanna Freitas in fourth year.
Jocelyne Sobeski Prize
Named after Jocelyne Sobeski, the Head of Wardrobe for the Theatre and Performance program from 1993-2012 who designed for over 50 productions, this award is presented to the student who has demonstrated exceptional ability and creativity in costuming and wardrobe skills. This year, it was awarded to John Edward Stapleton for his work on his capstone, where he was the costume designer for Utopia, one of the shows in the UpStart festival, the winter mainstage production.

Lloy Coutts Prize
This prize is presented to the student who has exhibited exceptional discipline, insight, ability, and collaborative participation as a performer. Named after the longtime text and voice coach Lloy Coutts, this award was presented to Becca Zadorksy for her work as Th’Owxiya in TH’OWXIYA: The Hungry Feast Dish and Charlotte in Utopia.

Technical Theatre Prize
This award recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding discipline, insight, skill, and teamwork in stagecraft and theatre production. This year’s recipients are Paula Bornacelli, for her work as Stage Manager; Jack Meldrum, for their role as Props Designer; and Morgaine McEvoy, for her leadership as Head of Props — all for their contributions to TH’OWXIYA: The Hungry Feast Dish.
Robin Atchison Prize
This award is presented to a student or students who have made an exceptional overall contribution to the intellectual, creative, and collegial life of the Theatre and Performance program. Robin Atchison was the administration manager and undergraduate advisor for the program from 2003 - 2015, and this award commemorates her tireless work ethic, efficiency, quiet dedication and good humor. This year, it was awarded to Paula Bornacelli and Hanna Freitas.
