“If you’re all about bold ideas, then here’s mine: Let me be your first,” says Julia Fedorin, a fourth year Communication Arts and Design Practice student, in a video pitched to Shopify. Since it was posted two weeks ago, the video has racked up over one million views and seven thousand engagements on X.
The video caught the eye of Shopify’s CEO, and within 24 hours Fedorin was offered a first-of-its-kind role at the commerce platform. “Going from viral video to team member in less than a day isn’t just a good story – it’s how we operate when we spot exceptional talent that embodies our values, especially from innovation hubs like Waterloo,” says a Shopify spokesperson.
