On the last weekend of June, KW Little Theatre wrapped up its latest production 'Scorched', which featured Jasmine Rajaballey, a recent graduate of the Theatre and Performance Program. Jasmine played Nawal at various stages of her life - from an energetic, passionate teenager to a grounded older woman – while navigating themes of war, intergenerational trauma and cultural heritage. She captivated audiences with her debut performance in this central and dynamic role.
“It’s a challenge both emotionally and physically to play someone at those different ages,” said Jasmine in an interview with UW Imprint. “It’s also really cool because I’m interacting with a culture that I’ve never really interacted with…It’s kinda cathartic for me [because] I can relate to that sense of [being] diaspora.”
