Abalansa is a PhD candidate in the School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability who will travel to India in spring 2024. He will attend the Krushna Chandra Jena Chilika-V2V Annual Field School, which is themed “Environmental Change and Governance: A Commons Approach to Coastal Communities Transitioning from Vulnerability to Viability” this year. Abalansa’s research focuses on marine plastic pollution in small-scale fisheries; therefore, this trip will benefit his research by providing him with an opportunity to interact with fishermen in India. This trip will also allow Abalansa to experience Indian culture in addition to academic knowledge!
